Having recently entered a new decade of my life, I wanted to get some targets down on paper – and you know I love a good target! I’ve come up with forty things I’d like to do, achieve or develop before I am 40. Some are already planned, some are underway, some may not happen and one or two are definitely open to interpretation.
I’m aiming to write about these things as and when they happen, if they do. So here we go, forty before forty!
- Expand our family
- Solve a rubix cube
- Go to a rock concert with Nathan
- Holiday in Cromer with Nathan and Sophia (preferably during carnival week)
- Do a course in nail beauty (this is not as random as it may seem, it’s to do with wanting to offer pedicures on Ash Wednesday!)
- Read Harry Potter to Sophia
- Knit socks for all my close family
- Preach in a Cathedral
- Learn to make macrame rainbows
- Learn to crochet
- Lay on hands at a Priesting
- Take Sophia to Pets Corner near Retford (a favourite place for me growing up)
- Knit myself a jumper
- Publish something (not just on RevPoppy blog)
- Run a half marathon (maybe even a full one!)
- Visit Highclare Castle
- Do a baptism by full immersion
- Go to a Broadway diner
- Sing solo in public again
- Bake a cake with Sophia
- Get on the property ladder
- Complete all the jigsaws currently in my house
- Visit St George’s to see where the Queen is buried
- Reach 100K views on RevPoppy
- Sand down and varnish all the dining table chairs
- Read Dorothy L Sayers Lord Peter Wimsey books
- Go to the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool
- Go to an open air cinema
- Make pasta from scratch
- Be on a podcast
- Become a Spiritual Director
- Go to Disneyland with Sophia & Nathan
- Buy a car which is more environmentally friendly
- Start a new worshipping community of some description
- Volunteer at Greenbelt
- Get my bike fixed and cycle to church
- De-clutter every draw, cupboard and box in our house (I’ve been inspired by Stacey Solomon’s Sort Your Life Out recently and I’d love to give it a go!)
- Become trained in mental health First Aid
- Go on a canal barge holiday
- Do Race For Life or donate my hair to charity again
As you can see, some are easily done and some are much bigger goals! To get them all done, on average, I’ll need to do one every three months. As always, do read along and join me on the journey!
