40 before 40

Having recently entered a new decade of my life, I wanted to get some targets down on paper – and you know I love a good target! I’ve come up with forty things I’d like to do, achieve or develop before I am 40. Some are already planned, some are underway, some may not happen and one or two are definitely open to interpretation.

I’m aiming to write about these things as and when they happen, if they do. So here we go, forty before forty!

  1. Expand our family
  2. Solve a rubix cube
  3. Go to a rock concert with Nathan
  4. Holiday in Cromer with Nathan and Sophia (preferably during carnival week)
  5. Do a course in nail beauty (this is not as random as it may seem, it’s to do with wanting to offer pedicures on Ash Wednesday!)
  6. Read Harry Potter to Sophia
  7. Knit socks for all my close family
  8. Preach in a Cathedral
  9. Learn to make macrame rainbows
  10. Learn to crochet
  11. Lay on hands at a Priesting
  12. Take Sophia to Pets Corner near Retford (a favourite place for me growing up)
  13. Knit myself a jumper
  14. Publish something (not just on RevPoppy blog)
  15. Run a half marathon (maybe even a full one!)
  16. Visit Highclare Castle
  17. Do a baptism by full immersion
  18. Go to a Broadway diner
  19. Sing solo in public again
  20. Bake a cake with Sophia
  21. Get on the property ladder
  22. Complete all the jigsaws currently in my house
  23. Visit St George’s to see where the Queen is buried
  24. Reach 100K views on RevPoppy
  25. Sand down and varnish all the dining table chairs
  26. Read Dorothy L Sayers Lord Peter Wimsey books
  27. Go to the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool
  28. Go to an open air cinema
  29. Make pasta from scratch
  30. Be on a podcast
  31. Become a Spiritual Director
  32. Go to Disneyland with Sophia & Nathan
  33. Buy a car which is more environmentally friendly
  34. Start a new worshipping community of some description
  35. Volunteer at Greenbelt
  36. Get my bike fixed and cycle to church
  37. De-clutter every draw, cupboard and box in our house (I’ve been inspired by Stacey Solomon’s Sort Your Life Out recently and I’d love to give it a go!)
  38. Become trained in mental health First Aid
  39. Go on a canal barge holiday
  40. Do Race For Life or donate my hair to charity again

As you can see, some are easily done and some are much bigger goals! To get them all done, on average, I’ll need to do one every three months. As always, do read along and join me on the journey!
