Weekly Check-in 143

Happy Sunday! I hope you’ve had as nice a weekend as I’ve had.

The highlight of this week was the wedding we went to yesterday. Nathan’s cousin got married and it was a great day. I also loved hosting the Deanery BBQ on Monday, having lunch out with Nathan on Wednesday and helping get the fence sorted for the new play area at church!

The ta-dah moment was sorting some posters for church which will help direct people to our new inclusivity champions. These people are volunteers who can help make everybody’s time at church more comfortable. That means making room for wheelchairs, organising gluten free bread, handing out toys for kids and anything else we can manage!

The challenge has some long drives. I like driving, but I’ve not done long journeys in quite a while.

Long journeys with a toddler: softplay pitstop!

My God moment was quite extraordinary this week! On the drive down to the wedding we needed to stop somewhere between Stoke and Guildford. Nathan googled some ideas and he found somewhere with an outdoor slide. Time was getting on so we stuck the postcode in the satnav and cracked on. When we pulled up, the play area was a bit worse for wear and we weren’t too sure, but we decided to make the most of it.

In no tkme at all, Soph was playing with another little girl, and then another, and I got chatting to their Mums. It turns out that the family was there arranging the wake for a family member who has just died, and we were able to offer some advice about talking to children about death. Not only that, but two of the family actually live in Crosby! Long story short, the kids got on so well that I invited them to Soph’s party! It all felt like such wonderful timing, and more than a coincidence.

This week I’m particularly grateful for people who have the courage to come and share the truth with me.

Mum moment: seeing Nathan give Sophia a blessing as they looked at the communion table at Guildford Cathedral.

New words: where to even start?! Mama rarry (Mama carry me), Fea Two (Sophia is two, in preparation for her birthday), ake up, ake up (wake up, wake up!) – and that’s just off the top of my head!

Next week: I’m looking forward to seeing Grease with my oldest friend, Sophia’s birthday tomorrow and seeing family!
