Hello second trimester! I’m officially in the second bit of this pregnancy, hooray! It’s been an interesting few months, so I’m hoping that things will improve shortly.
7.05am Unusually, I’m awake first today. This morning I’ll be taking Soph to nursery and then going to the Cathedral for the Chrism eucharist. This happens on the Monday of Holy Week and we all renew the vows we made when we began our ministries, and the special oils used in our services throughout the year are blessed.
9.30am We were hoping to get the train into town today but it didn’t quite happen. Nathan had lots to do so we’re hopping in the car. I’m hoping to get a coffee in the Cathedral cafe when we arrive.
12.05pm The service was as nice as it usually is and it was good to catch up with various people. As we announced our news yesterday, people were very kind in saying congratulations! My favourite phrase, though, from one of our good pals was ‘hello the ever expanding Thorpes’! I do quite like that, and it’s apt as I already feel like I’m getting bigger every day.
12.30pm We’ve found a nice spot for lunch. We like to have lunch out together at the beginning of Holy Week or we just don’t really see each other.

3pm I seem to have a bit of a stomach upset. Hoping it’s pregnancy related rather than a bug!
7.30pm We were all supposed to be going round to a friends house for tea, but as they’ve got a baby, I thought it best to stay home in case I have got something nasty. Before they went out, Sophia suggested that I ‘have little sleep’ which was very cute!
Thankfully though, I am feeling much better. Nathan and Soph should be home soon, but as they aren’t yet, I’ve had a good long chat to my family which was much needed.
9pm Soph is down! She clearly had a brilliant time because she couldn’t stop talking about it. She had a disrupted bath and bed time as it started a bit later than normal, and also because we’ve got a leak in one of the pipes in our central heating system. Not only has there been water seeping all over the kitchen floor since Saturday (we’re getting through some towels!), it also seems that the pressure has dropped and so Soph’s bath wasn’t very warm. The house is also now quite cold. So Soph is back in her deep winter PJs and all tucked up with a hot water bottle.
Anyway, I’m going to do a bit of work on my laptop and prep my easter session with the Rainbows for Wednesday night.
9.56pm Thank God for clever people on the internet who come up with brilliant ideas for Easter talks! I can take no credit for this at all, I found a video by St Leonards Lexden.
If you fold it and cut it up right, a single piece of A4 paper can make…

…which can be rearranged to make…

How cool is that?! So I’ll talk the Rainbows through the Eatser story using the paper and then chat about new life, bunnies, eggs, and the empty tomb. I might even crack an Easter egg open and share it around!
Time to sort some laundry and go to bed. See you tomorrow.
