I really apologise that I’ve been so bad with updating you on my 40 before 40 challenge!
Here’s number 2, only 10 months late.
For Soph’s second birthday, we took her to Pet’s Corner (now called Sundown Adventureland) near Retford.
Bizarrely, Nathan and I have a lot of childhood memories from similar places in Nottinghamshire/South Yorkshire because of where I grew up and where Nathan’s grandparents lived when he was younger.
We both enjoyed trips to Pet’s Corner when we were kids so we knew we wanted to take Soph at some point. We decided to go for her second birthday, on the way back from a family wedding down South.
So what was it like? It was nostalgic, garish and exciting, all at once! Lots was the same, from the story book characters, to the play equipment, to the rides. I mean, I loved it back in the 90s, so I suppose it could do with a lick of paint or two!
We took her on the Christmas ride, which in hind sight might not have been such a great idea, and could be the reason why she has spent the past 10 months traumatised by Father Christmas…
But anyway, even in the rain it was a brilliant day, and even with 9 adults to one child, we had a lot of fun!
