Weekly Check-in 172

Many apologies for missing last week! It turns out that I’ve been fighting an infection, and I’m now on antibiotics so it’s under control. But it’s all left me very tired and I didn’t get around to blogging last week.

Anyway, highlights have included: afternoon tea celebrating the end of the Women’s Fellowship, Nathan’s birthday, my sister’s Hen Do, Nathan’s Dad’s retirement, a date night tray with Nathan watching the opening of the Olympics and the beginning of Sophia’s birthday. Yes, she has various celebrations around her birthday. I’m not sorry. Everybody should.

Challenges have been: this infection, bad reflux, the heat and finding it hard to say what I need.

Ta-Dah moments: completing the first load of baby washing, making big progress with the rota, starting to prep the nursery and completing a module of safeguarding training.

God moment: feeling Jesus’ presence very clearly before and during communion today. Despite feeling frustrated, tired and a bit anxious in myself, I sensed that God was pouring grace out to make up for my faults. Thankfully, people can meet with God regardless of how I’m feeling even though I’m leading the service!

Mum moment: this is a bitter sweet one. Sophia no longer asks me to lift her up. If she wants to be picked up, she’ll either get to me lift her arms, remember it’s me and turn away, or go straight to somebody else. In one way, it’s very sad. In another, I’m pleased that she’s learned that I can’t really lift her, and I hope it’s the beginning of her learning to share me.

What Sophia said: she’s been calling Triceratops from one of her favourite books ‘cherry on the tops’. She has been singing songs from Hello Dolly, despite not being on the trip to London last weekend. She’s also been very keen to go to the theatre, which is something I cannot wait to get organised with her!

Next week: I’m looking forward to officially having a three year old!

This was well worth the wait!
