Can I start by saying a huge thank you to everybody who has sent messages and kind thoughts, both after my last blog and then after Aidan was born. I have felt incredibly supported during a whirlwind of a week.
So, welcome to a new blog series, Two Tuesday!
Sooner than I anticipated, the Weekly Check-in has been paused, and so for a year at least, it’s time for something different.
There will be time for blogging my birth story and retrospectively sharing some Pregnancy Diaries soon enough, but as it’s the first Tuesday after I became a mum of two, today is the first Two Tuesday.
I’m planning on sharing the funny anecdotes and utterly bizarre moments from life as a Mum with two children. Some weeks I may just say ‘what on earth…?!’ and occasionally I may have something more profound to say, who knows? But for now, here are some thoughts and memories from the last six days.
At about 8am after a night of cluster feeding, Aidan was asleep in the Next2Me cot and Sophia was being watched by Nathan. I decided to top up the three hours sleep fitbit had logged with a nap. I woke up to find Sophia sat on our bed, painting the toenails on my foot that was sticking out of the duvet. Nathan had painted her nails and gone for a shower. She had taken it upon herself to paint mine too!
Sophia has been absolutely brilliant. There’s a new baby who she loves and wants to show things to. There is no way, though, that we can be the same with her now as we were this time last week. We are different, our little world is different. So I am really grateful that she has nursery to go to three days a week. They can be the same with her as they were last week, and it’s a really good thing.
They say to drink in everything about your first child when you go off to have your second because they’ll never seem small to you again. I did this, even though she was asleep in bed when I left for the hospital. When she came to see us the next day, she did look more grown up, but nobody prepared me for how heavy she would feel on my knee! I swear she gained a stone overnight!
Trips out with both children so far have been to the park, Lidl, Asda, nursery twice and a 4 year old birthday party. At the moment, Nathan looks after one while I see to the other. It’s working well so far.
I think that’ll do for now!
More next time, and thank you again x
