Two Tuesday 2

Another week as a Mum of two!

We’ve still got a chilled and happy Aidan, and it’s still like we’re waiting for the shoe to drop – we are not used to a newborn like this!

That being said, I have noticed some conflicting feelings in my heart this week. I loved just being Sophia’s Mum, and part of me misses it. We spent such a lot of time together over summer and it was brilliant, if intense! And I feel guilty that I miss that time, because Aidan is just wonderful.

At the moment, Sophia and Aidan both need very different things from me, and there is almost no overlap. Sophia wants play and attention and lots of energy and fun. Aidan wants feeding and cuddles and for me to just be still.

I think gradually, as Aidan wants to play more and Sophia gets used to the stillness that a baby needs, and I can be a good Mum to them both in the same moment more often, these feelings will subside.

But that’s enough of the serious stuff for now! Here’s one funny interaction I had with Sophia this week:

S: ‘Mummy, don’t push me!’

Me: ‘I’m sorry Sophia, I know it’s not nice to be pushed, but you were about to sit down on Aidan’s head’.

Places we’ve been with 2 children this week: church, breastfeeding support group, toddlers at ASSF, the pub, Tappy Toes and the soft play.

Another interesting moment was when we were all at St Giles on Sunday morning. Aidan slept most of the way through and only woke up for a feed. Sophia, however, decided to fill the holy silence at the end of the Bishop’s sermon with a jubilant shout of ‘POO POO!’

Milestones: Aidan is official! We registered him this morning. He’s also officially a 7 pounder, go us! And it’s been potato harvest time in the Vicarage garden, see photo below.
