Two Tuesday 8

Hello to you and hello to Tuesday!

We had an absolutely brilliant time over in Retford for my sister’s wedding last week! We were away from Tuesday-Saturday, so we didn’t do most of our usual things at home.

But the places we went were; Retford (like I said last week, packing to go away was a MISSION), church for the wedding rehearsal, lunch in town, Damons restaurant the night before, the wedding at church, the reception at the big house and back to Mum and Dad’s for a bit of a gathering on Friday.

Nathan was just such a star in helping with the kids so I could do the rehearsal, be bridesmaid, take the service and spend time with my family.

When we got back, I got both kids to church, followed by Lidl. They both cried around Lidl, and I didn’t realise that they only have big baskets with wheels rather than the standard ones you carry. So there’s Aidan in the pram (crying), Sophia sat on the pram buggy board (crying), and me, pushing the pram and board forwards, pulling the wheelie basket behind me. That night, we had a spag bol with no mushrooms or carrot because I just didn’t manage to pick them up.

Milestones: Aidan and I have both seen the Doctor and been signed off! And when Aidan was weighed 13 days ago, he was 9lbs6!

Other observations:

I’ll write a separate blog about the wedding, but for now, let me tell you about the bottle. We had a carefully crafted plan that involved time for getting to church for the wedding, getting Aidan settled, and allowed me time to get ready to take a very important service! I suggested that we get a little bottle of ready-made formula in case Aidan woke up during the service and was hungry. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t be using formula, but Aidan is over 6 weeks and feeding is established so I was happy with the plan. In the end, he slept through the service but did want feeding during the speeches later on. Nathan gave him the bottle (with Sophia desperately trying to help) and apparently he glared at him and begrudgingly swallowed a couple of mouthfuls.

Aidan has been a bit fussy the last few days. I think it’s a leap. Babies go through 10 developmental leaps in the first 2 years of life and in our experience, it makes them grumpy, clingy, and hungry. The leaps last for a few days, maybe a week, and some are worse than others. But Aidan spent all afternoon wanting feeding and cuddling today. Much as I’ve got jobs to do, I’ve tried to make the most of it!
