Two Tuesday 15

Hello and happy Tuesday! Number 15, where is the time going?

It’s been a very nice week. This week we’ve been to my Mum and Dad’s, which involved the local festival of light (a free event for families with rides, a market, a lantern parade and late night shopping) and a trip to one of my favourite places as a child, Sundown Adventure Land. Sophia and I went for a date of cake and hot chocolate! When we got home, we went to St Giles Carol service and earlier in the week, Aidan and I went to see Wicked for a second time!

Milestones: I managed my first long drive on my own with both kids. It went well! On the way there, we stopped for a Starbucks at Hartshead Moor, and they both slept most of the way when we came home, so I just kept going.

Other things. I quickly noticed how much more affectionate Sophia was once we got back from our hot chocolate trip. She was quite a different child from when I was blogging last week! We weren’t even gone an hour, but it made such a difference. We’d left Aidan with Granny and Bubba and some milk, but in the end, we weren’t gone long enough for them to use it. We didn’t talk about anything special, we just ate our cakes, drank our drinks and speculated which of our family would choose which cake if they were with us (we then bought some to take home to Daddy). It was such a small thing, really, but it made me realise how much things have changed for us both, and I’m very determined to make Cake with Sophia a regular thing.

I was so pleased to be able to spend a bit of time at my Mum and Dad’s before Christmas. I’m usually so busy this time of year, so I absolutely loved having a few days away. Retford has a really special place in my heart, and being in my childhood home at Christmas time, as well as seeing a lot of my sister, was such a gift.

Nathan has been really busy (obviously!), so I think it was good for him to have a bit of time to plough through his To Do list without us all distracting him.

What Sophia said: ‘Don’t be soft, Mum!’

Sophia loves to talk about poo. Not in detail, but she just loves saying the word poo! On the way home from nursery yesterday, I was teasing her about the playcouch she is hoping to get for Christmas. I said ‘maybe you’ll get a playcouch… and poopoo!’ She giggled and said ‘don’t be soft, Mum!’.

I don’t know who taught her that, but it wasn’t me!
