Two Tuesday 21

I’ve had a really good week with our little family.

We’ve been to Toddlers, a new cafe with a play area, Tappy Toes, the Ice Cream Farm over the water, church and Lullababy.

We’ve hit one huge milestone this week… Sophia is dry through the night! She wanted to give it a go before we went on holiday, but I didn’t feel I could risk a whole load of mess in somebody else’s house. So when we got back, I tried the trick of putting pants on underneath her nappy. They got soggy for 2 or 3 nights, but since then, they’ve been dry!

Another milestone was Nathan settling both kids tonight when I went out to a (non-church) meeting. Aidan is not a fan of the bottle. Apparently, he had about 4 sips. But Nathan persevered, and halfway through, I got a message to say they were both asleep and Nathan was starting on the washing up. What a star!

Some other observations:

Last night after bath time, Sophia clearly had no intention of winding down, but Aidan was ready to get settled in his cot. So I left Sophia to it, telling her to try and go to sleep while I went and settled Aidan. Aidan actually took longer to settle than I imagined. When I eventually went back into Sophia, she was throwing Elsa a picnic birthday party. Of course she was.

On a completely different and not remotely funny note, I’m fed up with the Church. Not my church. Not ASSF. They continue to be brilliant and are giving me the biggest gift in letting me have this year with my baby worry free. But looking around at the leadership of the wider church and the behaviour of clerics in other places, I’m just at a loss. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Anyway, now time for something more wholesome, what Sophia said:

‘Did you wash this top, Mummy?’

‘I did Soph’

‘It smells lovely, thank you!’

Well, how delightful is that?
