Well that was quite a 7 days, wasn’t it? A memorable moment was watching the news with Sophia, finding myself saying ‘you lay on the floor while they took the service… that person gave you a blessing while you were breastfeeding… you shared a bath with their grandson once… they made you a playmat…’ weird and unsettling.
Anyway, worship happened on Sunday, the weather has picked up and a new week has begun. Many prayers have been said and I am feeling much better.
We’ve been to Nette’s Cafe with GranGran and Grandpa, Tappy Toes and Lullababy Spa with Nanny, the Hub, the cinema with Daddy, church, the Chinese, a new softplay and Lullababy again.
One particular favourite bit was Lullababy Spa. It was such a relaxing, gentle session with baby massage and an individual bath for each of the four babies. Soph came with her dolly and she copied the massage I was giving to Aidan. When it came to bathtime, she needed a change of trousers she got so wet! Aidan loved it too, and he wore a little robe and tiny knitted flip-flops! It was so cute.

One milestone was Aidan moving into the bigger bit of his pram! We might take it on retreat for him to sleep in for a few weeks time, but apart from that, we are officially done with the pram top/bassinet/whatever you want to call it. It’s a bit emotional!
He’s also 5 months old! Suddenly, it feels like time is speeding by.
Another milestone is that I’ve been signed off from counselling. I started just after Aidan was born, when I was first put under the perinatal mental health team. It’s been good to have somebody to work stuff through with. I’ve learned so much about myself, and I know that although life isn’t perfect, I’ve got better tools to deal with it now. I’m not sure if I ever said it at the time, but if you need support, please reach out and get it.
What Sophia said: Now she’s dry at night, we aren’t using the baby gate across Sophia’s door. So if she wakes up, she can take herself to the loo (or anywhere else, it turns out). One night I heard her disturb so I went up to see her. I popped her back in bed and said ‘I’m just going to the toilet, I’ll be back in a minute’. She said ‘you don’t need to see Aidan. I just checked on him, and he’s absolutely fine’
