Hello and welcome to another Tuesday check-in!
I’m delighted (and somewhat terrified) to announce that we have a crawler! Aidan is officially on the move.
Other milestones are Aidan having his last Lullababy session today, and Sophia is in her last week of nursery!
This week we’ve been to: Toddlers with Granny and Grandpa, out for lunch, Tappy Toes, the garden centre, a new play cafe called Sophie’s in Ainsdale, St Giles, the shops and Lullababy followed by lunch. I also went out to the Deanery BBQ all by myself on Sunday night! It was nice to get out and have some adult conversations, I have to say.
Sleep: hmm, mixed. One big win was both kids being down by 7.40 on the hottest day of the year. We were very impressed with that one! But, I think mostly because of the heat, they’ve both been up a fair few times in the night. Still, it’s improving!
Food: Aidan tried cherries and absolutely loved them, even if he did look a bit like a bloody vampire afterwards! He also had a little bit of his friend’s first birthday cake today. That was a hit.
He’s such an eater, is our Aidan. He eats big portions for such a small person, which explains why I’ve been ravenous when feeding him!
What Sophia said. Nathan was out last night so I did bedtime on my own. Nathan had a rough time getting Aidan to sleep when I went out on Sunday. This meant he was tricky last night, too, and slow to settle tonight as well.
So, in the middle of all the crying last night, Sophia came to her bedroom door and called me over. She said ‘Mummy, would Aidan like my jewellery box so you can play music to get him to sleep? You’ll need to wind it up’.
What a sweetheart!
Other observations
I am a bit weepy this week, with all the endings. Last Lullababy, last day at nursery, last Toddlers (for Sophia), last Tappy Toes. This year has been a dream come true, and all those experiences and people have helped shape it and make it wonderful. But, there’s so much good stuff to come!
Tomorrow is Sophia’s last day of nursery, so it’s my last day of only looking after one small person. I feel we’ve got into quite a good rhythm across the week, so it’s going to feel different pretty soon. I thought I’d be dreading it, but to be honest, I can’t wait! I’m sure I’ll have moments where I’m tired and just need a minute to myself. But overall, I’m so excited for all the adventures and fun!
More next time x
