One whole year of our Aidan Jonathan and one whole year as a family of four! What a brilliant year it has been, what a wonderful little soul we have welcomed into our lives!
He is sweet and loving, with the cutest, slightly squeaky, laugh. He loves being with people, but in a calm and unassuming way. He is a very chilled baby, unless he’s hurt himself or is very hungry.
Aidan’s favourite things to do are watch Sophia, and set Rosie the robot hoover off and chase her around the room! He’s been crawling for a few weeks now, which is a new one on us because Sophia didn’t really bother. I’m always impressed at Aidan’s ability to know who is who by their shoes or socks. He doesn’t seem to need to look up to my face to know to head towards me with determination and purpose!
I have been ravenous when breastfeeding Aidan, and it really shows now he’s on solids. He does eat well, and he is a real meat lover! He’s also a huge fan of rice, pasta, and fruit.
Aidan is not a fan of loud noises, toast or being thrown high into the air. He can take or leave crisps, and is unimpressed by lemon.
Aidan has certain sounds he loves to make. He’s got Dagdag for Daddy and amama for me. Most recently, he’s been looking at Sophia and saying ohf – like the first sound in Sophia. He also likes to blow kisses and roar with a huge grin on his face!
Aidan is a very affectionate little person. I loved the phase he went through when he would grab the small hairs at the nape of my neck, pull my face towards his, and give me a very slobbery kiss!
We’ve learned that he loved music. 2 Little Dickie Birds and Wheels On The Bus are favourites. This week, he will also sing at you if you sing a tuneful ‘ahhhh’ first.
Just like his sister, Teletubbies are a firm favourite, and he adores books, especially ones with texture or flaps. Aidan also loves things with wheels, especially now he can nearly stand and push things along the floor on his own!
As his first birthday comes to an end, I just wanted to say it has been the most delightful year getting to know this boy. There are so many girls in our family, so being around a little boy is fairly new to me. But I can understand why Mums can get daft about their boys – I am certainly daft about mine! He’s our firey gift, my sunny change in the atmosphere, my little love.
Baby life is nearly over, and toddlerhood is well on the way. Bring it on!
