Hello to you. It’s going to be a quick update from me tonight because we spent most of the last week on holiday. There will be a blog about that to follow, of course!
Mum life: packing for this holiday was a mission. Every hour I was awake, I was either working or packing and ticking things off various lists. I’m beginning to think I need a week off to prep for a week away, which is bonkers! Anyway, we made it and had a lovely time.
Ministry life: We came back on Friday in good time for the services yesterday. Nathan had an extra service and we at ASSF had an afternoon as a church council discussing mission. It was a good but long first day back at work for us both.
Drama: Sophia’s favourite breakfast is Bubba eggs. These are basically sweet scrambled eggs that my Dad makes, hence Bubba eggs. Sophia has had them so often that she can now make them almost by herself, as long as one of us is around. Anyway, as part of the process, she knows to add a little dash of vanilla (she calls it fanilla).
This morning, after she had finished, she forgot that she hadn’t put the lid back on the vanilla properly and somehow got vanilla extract all over her hair! What followed was a lot of mopping up, and she was loud and miserable having her hair done, which was still somewhat sticky. Dramatic.
As Nathan said, though, she might have been a bit sticky, but she will have smelled good all day!
Our day off: was spent unpacking, doing the laundry and feeding the ducks on the canal.
What Sophia said: thank you for taking me to Durham, Mummy.
What Aidan did: Today, he had his next lot of jabs. Yesterday, he took a super small step towards me! He’s been getting more and more confident for ages and now he’s getting ready to go!
I’m especially grateful for a lovely time off with our gorgeous friends. Then, when we got back, treating the wonderful ASSF church council to lunch as a thank you for all they did on my year off.
Coming up: Remembrance Sunday.
