Ministry Mum Monday 18

Hello, it’s the first Monday of 2026!

It’s been a funny day, let alone week! I don’t even know what day it was last Monday. We’ve been at my Mum and Dad’s, seen in the new year, spent time with out friends, been to Liverpool museum and worked yesterday.

Today has been an inset day for both kids, so they’ve come with us to the Hub, went to St Giles to help take down the Christmas trees, went to the pub with Nanny and Rara, played on the sledge in the snow and then Sophia came with me to help set up the chairs for a big funeral in church tomorrow.

Mum life has been interesting. I’m pretty sure I’m fighting sinusitis, which is pretty rotten. Nathan has been great, sending me to bed early, letting me go off for a nap, bringing me tablets, etc.

I’m also a little nervous because Aidan starts his nursery tomorrow! But I’m nowhere near as nervous as last time.

Ministry life has been fairly calm. I’ve got this big funeral tomorrow, which I’m desperate to get right. It’s the funeral of somebody I worked with closely and I was very fond of. I feel honoured to be involved and also a bit nervous.

Our day off: we stuck quite close to home and went to the farm. Sophia was not impressed by the big goats, and Aidan thinks everything says ‘rarrrr’!

Drama: we must have worked the Hub coffee machine too hard over Christmas because it isn’t working!

Sophia had a wonderful time at my Mum and Dad’s, including a trip to the panto! She’s loving randomly dropping ‘oh no you aren’t!’ or ‘oh yes you have!’ into conversations!

Aidan is very into winding the bobbin, row row rowing the boat, opening and closing his hands for twinkle twinkle and even making a little diamond shape with his hands! Not that he joins in with the words, he just does the movement and expects everyone to sing, sometimes changing mid song!

This week I’m especially grateful for some lovely messages from my blog and tiktok. Thank you.

Coming up: Nathan and I have been together for 10 years this week! Cue another night out!

A funny sign at the farm.
