Ministry Mum Monday 29

Hello – yes, it’s Tuesday. Apologies, I was very tired yesterday!

Last week involved: clergy meeting, church council meeting, Sweaty Mama, prayer meeting, Tappy Toes, a particularly tragic funeral, the zoo, Sunday services, the annual meeting and a trip down south to be involved in my Aunt’s funeral yesterday.

I have long suspected that I’d like to be involved in the funerals of members of my family if asked, but that it would be a bit much to take the whole thing. Yesterday, I was honoured to do the reading, talk and prayers at my Aunt’s funeral and it was just the right balance for me.

Mum life has been okay, but tricky due to having a weird migraine most of the weekend, including my birthday.

Ministry life has felt much heavier than usual. Sometimes I hold a lot of grieving people and situations at once. It’s always an honour, but there is a weight to it.

Sophia ran into our room on Friday morning very excitedly shouting Happy Birthday!

Aidan is starting to say more words, most notably names from Bluey! We’ve had ‘oo-ee’, Bluey, and ‘andit’, Bandit.

Drama: where did I put my Bebe’s Hive beenie after Christmas?! I was looking for it for a fortnight and really needed it to travel on the train yesterday. Where was it in the end? Simple: my wardrobe!

This week I’m especially grateful for: the group of people from church at the funeral of Friday, who sat near the front, sang loudly and joined in with the responses. Seeing so many friendly faces when I was feeling so nervous was really helpful.

Coming up: All things Easter prep and… we get the first female Archbishop of Canterbury!
