Hello, we’ve finally done it, it’s been chicken pox week!

Sophia was well enough to go into school on Friday, but she spent the rest of the week at home, enjoying treats and watching TV, with the support of Dad and Nathan’s Mum.

Ministry life has been quiet.

Mum life has been alright, apart from the pox.

On our day off, we went to Croxteth Hall Farm and had a go on the miniature train for the first time.

I did have an interesting Sunday afternoon with Sophia. Recently, her room has become saturated with toys. So many found their way in there that it was hard for her to play. She much prefers to play in a clean, clear space, just like Nathan likes to cook, do gardening or sewing on a clean, clear surface!

Anyway, we got talking about her room, and I suggested that there were too many toys in there, which she agreed. I asked if she’s like me to clear some away, to go to children who don’t have many toys. She said yes, but asked me not to take Amber, her favourite. They I had a brain wave. I suggested that she let me tidy and organise her room on my own for an hour or so, and I’d collect some toys into bags that I didn’t think she played with much. Then, she could come in and have a look around, and if she could think of anything that was missing, she could have it back, no questions asked.

So, I tidied and filled two big shopping bags full of toys and hid them. She then came in and said it looked so much better, I asked if she could think if there was anything she wanted back, and she couldn’t! She and Aidan then played in there for the next hour, enjoying the space. What a win!

Aidan is trying lots of words, like pointing at things and saying ‘what?’ asking us to tell him what it’s called. He also pointed at a sheep at the farm on Saturday and said ‘baaa-shp!’, which we think was an attempt at ‘baa, sheep!’.

Drama: Will Aidan get chicken pox? Won’t Aidan get chicken pox? Sophia is so affectionate, there’s no way she won’t have passed something to him. But he had then new chicken pox vaccine a few weeks ago, so maybe he’ll fight them off! Watch this space.
