Ministry Mum Monday 42

Happy very hot Monday!

It’s been a long old week with the usual kind of stuff, plus the hot weather, plus the ordination of our curate!

Ministry life has been wonderful, with the priesting on Saturday, her first communion and the service for our church wardens yesterday, and the clergy study day today! It’s been great to see people start new ministries, be that as lay volunteers or priests!

I’ve also had the opportunity to catch up with lots of people, and I’ve had a good chat to a couple of mentors from my previous posts. I even found myself really looking forward to today, which, I’ll be honest, is a first for me! It didn’t disappoint, with interesting discussion, tasty lunch and a morning session involving us all making music with boom whackers! I really hoped somebody filmed all those clergy waving colourful tubes around!

Anyway, Mum life is alright, with Sophia’s first sports day on Friday (this one wasn’t rained off!). But this heatwave makes S&A tired, grumpy, off their food and very hard to get to sleep.

On Tuesday, I had a day of meetings, more than six hours of meetings, on two hours sleep. Aidan kept crying between midnight and five, and as a result, I didn’t sleep in that time. It wasn’t a fun day.

Perhaps one reason Aidan isn’t sleeping well is because he’s learning a new skill: talking! Just today, we’ve had ‘amij, sandwich and iskit, biscuit!

Sophia went to church with Nathan on Sunday, and because I had an early service, she went to Nathan’s early service first. Apparently she held the silver plate as Nathan gave out the bread!

This week, her class came over to church and she had that typical clergy child question: ‘Sophia, do you live here?‘!

I am especially grateful for prayer. It’s really making such a difference at the moment.

Coming up: family time!
