Yep it’s Tuesday, it’s the sixth week of the summer holidays and it’s all delightfully blurry.
Anyway, this week I have been to Mum and Dad’s for them to have S&A while I did lots of work. It was lovely to be somewhere I love so much, even if I was mostly on my laptop! But I’ve made good progress with the church plan for 2027 and got some other big chunks of admin done. It wasn’t all work though, as I did pop out for fish and chips at panto in the park one lunchtime!
Also this week I have been walking with a very special family as they said goodbye to a loved one. It’s been so precious, beautiful and sad all at once. God’s presence has been so tangible. Prayers have been answered and memories have been shared. There was so much love in the room. It still blows me away that people want me to be with them at such a time in their lives.
And then to mingle those visits with time in our play room, ratty hair washing, trips to get school uniform and playing in the garden has been quite the experience. It has been a very ministry week and a very Mum week. I am learning more and more to be present wherever I am.
Speaking of which, I love breakfast time. I am not, and never have been, a morning person, but the children want to be up and moving and fed, so I’ve got into the habit of going down with them fairly early and leaving my phone upstairs. It is a real game changer. We chat and they don’t mind that I’m a bit slow to start off with.
This morning, Sophia had finished and said she wanted to go up to see Nathan. I said to Aidan ‘are you going with her, or are you staying here,’ he said ‘a tey ere’ I stay here.
Sophia came with us to the Tappy Toes summer special which was just so wonderful. If you remember, I wrote this blog when she started school, and that feeling never went away. To have her back with us, skipping, singing and dancing through the bubbles was very special!
This week I am especially grateful for my wonderful, calm, dependable Dad.
Coming up: Greenbelt!
More next time x
