Weekly Check-in 137

I’m not quite sure what happened at the end of last week, but I thought I’d blog now rather than on Sunday. After our services we are heading over to Retford for a joint 30th and 60th birthday party!

So here’s a recap of the last 12 days or so.

I’ve been to… a talk on Palestinian Christians, an environmental awareness audit, a church council meeting, the network of kindness learning community and deanery synod. I’ve taken a funeral service, a memorial service and a nursing home communion. I have done observations for our nursery, delivered Christian Aid envelopes, done a bit of digging in the church garden, and met with various people to discuss various things, from prayers, to reader ministry, to our Open Table community. It’s been busy but lovely!

Upon completing the environmental awareness audit.

Highlights: lunch out with Nathan one day, meeting with a young man and his Mum to talk about confirmation and having my hair cut!

Challenge: I know I sound like a broken record, but Sophia’s teeth aren’t half giving her some grief, and in turn, she gives us grief, especially at night when there isn’t anything to distract her.

Ta-Dah Moment: clearning out the baby cupboard in the kitchen. Goodbye bottles and sterilisers, hello organised crockery and cutlery!

Mum moment: Sophia did not want to sit still during the prayer over the bread and wine on Sunday morning. She was flinging herself about, albeit quietly, but it was only a matter of time before she tripped or did herself a mischief. Low and behold, she smacked her head on the altar rail and the whole church heard it. I was sure she was going to lose the plot. Her little lip wobbled as she looked at me for help. I scooped her up and rocked her as everybody else said a prayer together. Miraculously, she settled quickly and was happy to sit with her crisps as we distributed the bread and wine. But I was sure I was going to have to pass the plate to somebody else while I consoled her!

Next week I am most looking forward to our party followed by a day in Retford!

Sophia’s new words: we booked tickets to Germany this week and Sophia is most taken with the idea of a ‘choo choo in sky’! She can also say; Wary (Mary), Anna (from Frozen), hand (when she wants to take your hand and lead you somewhere else) and rice.

She also like drawing and telling you what/who it is, pushing the baby around in the pram at ASSF, climbing up the slide right to the top and the obsession with ‘resses (dresses) continues!

Doing a small amount of digging for the new play area for our nursery!
