Weekly Check-in (56)

Thank goodness it’s Friday! It has been a very long week. This week’s score: 6/10.

This coming Sunday, I’ll be opening church for the first time since we went into lockdown. Not only is it the first service since March, but it’s also my first service in The Good Shepherd as their vicar! It has taking a lot of organising and prepping, lots of printing signs and making power points, lots of ordering of masks and prepping cleaning materials. I’ve also had two funerals come in, written a sermon, done Foodbank and delivered food pantry parcels, so it’s been quite an intense week.

More new ministry tools. Spray bottles, cloths and an inspirational mug.

I am so excited for Sunday though. Writing my sermon and imagining preaching to actual people rather than a camera gave me butterflies! The service will be very different to what we are all used to, but I think it’s important that we start to get used to what life is going to be like for the foreseeable future. Today, I made this video to explain about the social distancing measures in church.

The Weekly Star this week has got to be Carole. Carole came into church to bring silk flowers and to give the place a good clean. It looked lovely afterwards, and I’m so grateful for her help.

I can’t really pick a Little Win this week because this week has been full of little tasks that have contributed to opening up on Sunday. I am really pleased, though, that we’ve managed to find masks that have a see through slot and don’t make us sound really muffled! They’ll be great for communion!

I’ll let you know how it goes on Sunday. But for now, I’m off to take my meringue out of the oven for our BBQ tonight!

More soon, Poppy
