Wow, what a scorcher of a Bank Holiday! And how much the weather can vary in just one week of May!
Anyway, this week has involved: prayer meeting, meetings with colleagues, time in the Hub, a visit from the appointments secretaries for the new Bishop of Liverpool, a very busy funeral, Inspired podcast session, Rainbows, a new diocesan committee meeting, setting up for Toddler Group, sending out many application packs for our administrator post, sermon writing with accompanying video, Tappy Toes, hot chocolate after school, two Sunday services and a happy bank holiday at the park and Little Pegs play cafe.
Our day off involved a very wonderful girls date! Me and Sophia went to Granny’s on Friday night and on Saturday we went to the theatre. We had such a great time together, getting ready to say goodbye to Granny’s house which holds so many happy memories. Soph was brill and it was lovely to have some girl time with Mum, Granny and Isabelle too.
Mum life: mostly brilliant, but we have had a certain infestation that has needed tackling.
Oh, and I’ve been reminded what hard work it is looking after children in extreme weather!
Ministry life: I had a voicemail on Monday asking if I was aware of the visit from the appointment secretaries to the Hub on Tuesday morning – I was definitely not aware! Apparently they were wanting to visit churches where there is stuff going on, and places that don’t spend a lot of time in the spot light. They wanted to see us as we are, not freshly painted! So I said that was fine by me.
I went from dealing with aforementioned infestation, to meeting with these appointments secretaries from the Archbishop of York and the King/Prime Minister in about 15 hours. It was somewhat surreal, and possibly the strangest mix of things I’ve delt with in a 24 hour period!
Sophia: it was World Bee Day (for Bebe’s Hive) on Wednesday, and it was also Sophia’s Numeracy Day where they got to wear their own clothes. They needed to wear some clothing with a number on, and on World Bee Day, people are encouraged to wear yellow. To incorporate the two, I came up with this:

She said ‘oh, thanks Mum, I love it!’ I’ll take that!
Aidan: has mastered saying ‘out’ and has had a few goes at ‘es-eese’ (yes please). He also tried to bark when he hears dogs woofing!
This week I am especially grateful for: some people at church doing what I have always needed most as a ministry Mum: sitting with my children while I take a service, making sure they’re happy and safe, and feeding them snacks. Not taking them elsewhere and not expecting them to be anybody other than who they are. It’s wonderful.
Coming up: a manic half term week!
