Ministry Mum Monday 43

Happy not so hot Monday, thank the Lord!

This week has involved the usual meetings, prep stuff, plus two events hosting a couple of ladies from Palestine, nursing home communion, a new photocopier, time in the Hub, ice pops after school instead of hot chocolate and lots of extra admin because we’re between administrators at the moment.

Our day off involved a 5th birthday party and waiting for the bride outside St Giles as Nathan took a wedding.

Mum life has been pretty tough in the heat. They don’t sleep well, they don’t eat well, I’m so tired and struggle to parent, the house work and church stuff still needs doing even though I’d like to ignore it all. It’s a perfect storm – or not!

All that being said, Sophia had her transition day into year 1 and seems to have got on really well. She was happy to be going into her new classroom with her new teacher. It all left me asking the question, can it really be a year since she had her induction sessions into reception?

Ministry life has been good but quite intense. On Friday afternoon we worked out how to get the windows in the office to open. Better late than never!

I had a wonderful visit to the local nursing home, taking them communion and visiting a couple of ladies upstairs. I really felt the presence of God during the time of prayer and it was very special.

This week, Sophia asked ‘what are sausages made of?’

After a couple of seconds thought, I decided that the truth was the best policy. ‘Well, they’re made of pig, Soph’

She said, ‘Oh that’s okay, I thought you were going to say sausage dog!’

Aidan loves to sing and he’s pretty good with the tune of twinkle twinkle. A couple of times this week, he’s been la-la-ing away to himself and people have joined in! His little face was full of delight!

Added to that, we were all in the car one day this week and we overtook some horses on the road. We were talking about them and suddenly Aidan started singing ‘E-I-E-I-O’!

This week I’m especially grateful for short hair,  and ice pops keeping us all cool.

Coming up: Reception end of year celebration!
