Ministry Mum Monday 59

Hello and welcome to a new week!

We’ve been busy with meetings and services and church celebrations and knitting socks and baptisms and eulogies and Tappy Toes and Rainbows and mice catching and webinars and prayers and park trips and appointments. Just a standard week, really.

It all got a bit much, especially with the mice – at what point can you send an invoice to the diocese for a week in a hotel while the exterminator comes around? – so I was very pleased to have spent all Saturday with Dad and Nathan cleaning, fixing and filling holes. It felt like progress, and things do seem to be a bit better.

Anyway, Ministry Mum life can be summed up in this picture:

Settling the kids while listening to a parish share review webinar.

Also, walking through the middle of Crosby, pushing a pram with one hand and a large box of candles on my shoulder. There’s no photo of that… I hope!

Sophia has been singing the most beautiful harvest songs! ‘It’s amaaaaaazing the world of your creation and we all just want to say… thank you for the morning light, thank you for the moonlit night, thank you for the sunshine and the rain’. She’s not at a church school but there is so much Christian content and it’s lovely.

Aidan is calling himself ‘Aydee’, calling Grandpa ‘ba-bar’ and trying to say ‘pee’ please and ‘dan-dyoo’ thank you in the right context!

Nathan hasn’t given me three (ish) words this week, but I haven’t asked him to. I would like to give him a shout out because of this picture.

After a two service Sunday morning and pulling off a huge community event in the afternoon, face painted as Ziggy Stardust and covered in glitter, all on two hours sleep… he still found it in him to comfort and reassure a dysregulated Sophia who was crying and had just had enough at the end of a long and fun day.

What a bloody hero.

We had a great time at St Giles yesterday afternoon, listening to local musicians, sampling beer from Liverpool microbreweries and sharing curry and cakes from local vendors. I got to race some of our young people on an assault course bouncy castle and watched Aidan chilling on the soft play. We met new people who had seen the advert online and got chatting to families we’d love to see again. After slow ticket sales initially, the place was buzzing (that does tend to happen!) and it was lovely to do something completely different on a Sunday afternoon.

So, I don’t know what words he’d use to describe his week but I would say this: utterly triumphant Sunday!

I am especially grateful for polyfiller, expanding foam, wire wool and mouse traps.

Coming up: half term!
